Important Information

Independent studies continue to be conducted on the impact of in-car air pollutants on human health. We do know that air pollutants can affect our health, many are minor and reversible - these tend to occur immediately after exposure to the air pollutant, such as watery eyes or throat irritation. The concern is with long-term exposures to toxic air and the potentially serious health impacts, such as cancer and respiratory issues.

Toxins enter an individual through the air via breathing, ingestion or contact. Once it enters the body, it can stay in one area, like the lungs, or be transported to other parts of the body through the bloodstream.

Children are especially susceptible to air pollution because they have higher inhalation rates relative to body mass, less developed lungs and immature immune systems.
